WILDEBEESTS!

The Caldwell Zoo is proud to welcome three young male wildebeest. Two were born in July 2003, and our newest edition was born in March 2004.

Since 2001, the Caldwell has been implementing a new masterplan in order to renovate the existing facilities at the Caldwell Zoo.

Highlights of the plan include:

Expanded Parking - Two existing parking lots were joined, doubling the capacity of the visitor parking lot. A new bus parking lot with restroom facilities and large picnic grove suitable for group activities was ready for school groups in 2001.

Operations Complex - A new animal services building including an animal hospital and quarantine center was officially opened in 2002.

To make way for the parking lot expansion, grounds maintenance was moved. The new grounds maintenance building and greenhouse were completed in 2002.

New Entry Plaza - The new entry plaza was begun in 2002 and features an expanded gift shop, more restrooms, a first aid station and stroller, wagon and wheelchair rental space.  The plaza opened October 2003.
