Caldwell Zoo sadly announces the passing of our male puma, Monte.
Monte arrived here at the Zoo in 2009 when he was only about two months old. He was an orphaned cub rescued from the wild by the Oregon Department of Fish and Game and taken to the Oregon Zoo for care. Caldwell Zoo was able to work with the Oregon Zoo and the puma SSP (species survival plan) program leader to bring Monte to Caldwell, raise him, and give him a forever loving home. Monte was sixteen years old at the time of his death, and we couldn’t be more proud of providing him with a long and happy life. We’re glad we got to experience and share his stellar personality with our community, and he will be greatly missed.
