Welcome Ocelot Kittens

Caldwell Zoo Announces the Birth of Two Beautiful New Ocelot Kittens!

Congratulations to Maya and Batata, the distinguished parents.

This is an amazing conservation accomplishment for our ocelot breeding program. Ocelots are endangered, and within Texas, are now limited to only two small areas in South Texas. We are extremely proud to be able to contribute to the survival of the species.

Caldwell Zoo is thrilled to announce the arrival of Freddy, a young, reticulated giraffe from Fossil Rim Wildlife Center, marking an important step in the Zoo’s ongoing conservation efforts to protect this endangered species.

Maya is being an very attentive mother. The kittens are nursing well. They are relaxed and growing strong, in their special den that is located behind the scenes in a quiet area. The keepers are checking on them regularly while making sure they don’t disturb the young family.

Be sure to check out the reel from the den video on Instagram
