Support

Overview

The Caldwell Zoo is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to animal support and community education. The mission of the organization is to create a rich connection between people and wildlife so everyone can appreciate the value of wildlife and participate actively in its preservation.

The zoo is far more than a collection of animals. The zoo team consists of more than 80 full time employees who care for the animals and provide educational programs for the community of East Texas. The zoo sustains a modern veterinary hospital, constructs and maintains naturalistic habitats, develops animal enrichment programs, builds nutritious diets, creates educational programs, and presents an entertaining and safe guest experience. The zoo maintains full accreditation by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums, which signifies that every aspect of the organization is operated in accordance with highest standards.

The zoo is fortunate to receive financial support from the Caldwell Foundation, which was founded by the DK and Lottie Caldwell over 70 years ago.
